Drop in a statement PDF, get back clean transactions you can trust — balanced to the penny, exportable anywhere, and callable in one line by your code or your agent.
1. Upload your statement
Drop in a PDF — a bank statement, credit-card statement, or other financial statement. Digital (text-based) and scanned/photographed PDFs both work. Upload one file on the web app, or batch several through the API on paid plans.
2. We extract every transaction
Ledgerary reads the document and pulls out each transaction — date, description, signed amount, running balance and a category — along with the statement metadata: institution, account, period, opening and closing balance.
3. We check the math
Before you see a result, we verify that the opening balance plus the net of every extracted transaction equals the closing balance printed on the statement. A pass means the numbers reconcile; a mismatch is flagged, not hidden, along with a confidence score for the overall extraction.
4. Export or integrate
Download Excel, CSV or JSON free. On Pro and Scale, export QuickBooks, Xero or Sage-ready CSVs for direct bank-feed import, or call the same engine from your own code or AI agent via the API and MCP server.

Questions about the process
Does it work with scanned or photographed statements?
Yes. Ledgerary handles both digital PDFs (text already embedded) and scanned or photographed statements. Scans generally produce a slightly lower confidence score — always check the balance-check result before relying on the output.
What if the balance check fails?
You'll see the mismatch amount instead of a silent "success". A failed check usually means a low-quality scan, a multi-account statement, or a page that didn't extract cleanly — you can re-upload a clearer copy or review the flagged rows before exporting.
Can I convert more than one statement at once?
The web app converts one file at a time on the free plan. Pro (batch up to 25 files per call) and Scale (batch up to 200) support bulk conversion through the API.
How long does a conversion take?
Most statements process in well under a minute. Longer, multi-page statements or lower-quality scans can take a little longer.
